This is the latest book that I've read.
The book came out long time back, and I wonder why didn't i read this book earlier?
To tell you the truth, I had a such a wonderful time time reading it, the story was light and easy for me to read.
Although it's a novel, but it is written in such a way that each of it's chapter can be read individually as a short story itself, and yet collectively there are still a flow from chapter to chapter. It's like "Phua Chu Kang", you can watch the episode individually but, but in the end you need to watch all of them if you want to get the whole idea of whats going on. Get what I mean?

" I felt what a bird must feel when it has flown across the ocean and came upon a creature that knew its nest" A description of feeling by the Author, and I seldom read, but I found it interesting to have describe a feeling in such a manner! Of course there's lots more beautiful sentences in this novel than the one above.

This book is tells a historical story during the post world war 2 era in China, presented in forms of short personal experience of those civilian who when thru that painful era.
