Senior'sFinal Year Project 2009

Just a few pic taken during FYP presentation by the seniors.

Basketball robot
- great feature, ps2 console interface.

Coin sorter machine?!?!

Quite a nice robot made of wood~

And it's power supply.

Talking about power supply, this is a big issue for most project! Some project got burnt, most using a umbilical cord.

Another issue, is heat! motor heat up fast, hence some robot can only operate 10-15 minutes.

PSDC Masquerade night 09

It was our college night.

Our prom night was held in the newly open Hard Rock Hotel! Cool leh!

It had a very nice ambiance, great swimming pool and everything new!!!
Yes, I know it's beautiful, but I was only dreaming!!! Prom night was held in another hotel, you don't expect RM50 will be enough for Hard Rock.
We just went to HArdRock to have a short mid night tour.
Then we went to sunset bistro and had beer at the beach (1/2 of us are the BAD boys drinking beer, the other 1/2 had soft drink.)

So lets talk about the night,

Food, good, had lamb curry spaghetti, desserts, fruits, mushroom soup etc etc the usual stuff.
Venue, too narrow, hard to walk around, more like squeezing around, but no big deal.

Event flow, half good half bad.
magic shows were nice, and made me laugh;
dancing sorry man, can't see much though sitting in 2nd front row;
Emcees a little nervous at the beginning?

I was on my way, walking towards to the toilet.....

I was on my way, walking towards to the toilet, absent minded.

After taking a left turn to step into the toilet, it was then when it happened.
It was too sudden, They were there, standing right in front of the toilet entrance, motionless, but it a smile on each face and 3 pairs of eyes staring right upon me at that instant.

I had the shock of my life, adrenaline was pumping, and fear spreaded thru me like a venom traveling faster with each heartbeat, as their frightening eyes laid upon me.

"What are they doing here? What do they want?" those were the only question that came through my mind at that instant. My mind raced against time, thinking of all logical explanations to answer my own doubt. If there is one.

Then, suddenly I realized something about them, something that i didn't see when I first saw them "Aww, why didn't I notice it earlier?"

One of them is a girl! What's a girl doing in the guys toilet?

i took a deep breathe, and with all my gut, ignoring their stare, walked pass them and into the toilet, straight to the urinal bowl, unzipped my jean and ...........

Wow wow wow that's way too much.

There was really 3 person right at the entrance of my college guys toilet, and one of them is a girl, and they are looking straight at anyone who enters the toilet.

The only thing is that they are all on the posters.
Posters for the upcoming Student Council Election.

HAha too much crap, must be the result of watching Crayon Sin Chan in the class during break time.

Well, later I peeped through the girls toilet doors **I didn't take even one single step into the gilrs toilet, just standing outside** and only saw 1 poster there.
Hey not fair, why can a girl be in the guys toilet, but not the other way round? Where is the justise?

Who's idea was it to place the posters in the toilet?
That must be one brilliant fellow, because 1st it definately caught everyone off gaurd and gain their attention, 2nd you will definitely se their faces at least once a day when you enter the toilet.

Although I'm not sure what going on regarding the election, but the event is bringing some life back to the dull atmospehere. So far LAH...

BBQ party

In conjunction wit Alwin Loo's 18th birthday, I held a birthday BBQ party in Penang just for him!!!
Where to find such good friend? Only in Penang!! haha
Er... well, although the birthday boy didn't make it to the party.
With all the delicious food, hungry humans, who cares about the birthday boy??

Well I invited about 20 college friends over to my place on on Friday for the BBq party, the BBQ started late due to the rain ( it didn't rain for the whole week but rained on Friday evening).

For food, we had chicken wings, big fat juicy sausages ( I didn't manage to get a taste of it!), fish balls, stingrays, prawns, and marsmallow, which is something new to them!!

All those great food for a price of just Rm15 !! "--- now everyone can BBQ"

oh we didn't drink beer, we mixed it with sunquick orange! try it, it tasted great!

The highlight of the event, throwing Zhang Cong down the pool.

You don't get to see this type of BBQ (roasting a whole bird) anywhere, only in places with hardcore scouts around!
See that chunk of aluminum on the left of the chicken? That's my chicken wings in it, BBQ using the "lazyman's method"- wrap, throw, eat.

And in this BBQ, I practically didn't BBQ anything at all!! I steamed all my food!
Yes a break thru for Seck Houng!!!

Playing the game- Mafia. oh my, I miss the Mafia game I played during last year's senior camp in Templer's park.

Well, thats all about the BBQ party, did everyone enjoyed themselves? Well I hope so!
Thanks to everyone for attending and helping out.
Special thanks to my family too, for all the support given
:)

Just took part in the Penang marathon 10k fun run early this morning, will post about it the next time!

O.H.L.A. opportunity-hope-luck-and eveything else

I check both of my email accounts, hotmail and gmail everyday Ok ok , maybe not everyday, but at least once every 2 days.

So, the facts were these.

2 weeks ago, I received an email from my college: My college is having a partnership with Western Digital, we, the students get a chance to have an internship with them during the semester break, working as a technician. ( in an more direct but inappropriate term for internship- cheap labor).
Interested students can submit in their detail, and an interview will be held.

I was interested, but wasn't sure about it cause you'll got to work on a 12hour shift, and no more relaxing holidays...

On Monday evening, I received another email, stating that the 1st batch interview will be held on Tues. Then I realized that I was steps behind people, so I just submit my details, and hope that "if they have a 1st batch then they will have a 2nd batch"

Days passed... After a week, no news yet.

30th July, wasn't at home, but my friend received email stating names of those who got the internship. I thought it was over, there wont be a 2nd interview. But I was wrong.

31 July evening, I checked my mail, and received an email- for the 2nd interview. Guess what the interview was on 31 July 2pm !!!

Arh... I missed it!! Only 1 word can describe my feeling--- TULAN.....

Moral of the story:
  1. Check your email regularly

Hiking

Yesterday, I went for a hike with few of my college friends.

We started from Youth Park, and just follow the trail up. Well, there are a few different route up, up it all bring you to the same distination- Penang Hill. However, we didn't hike up to Penang hill, cause that will that us 3 hours just to get up there. We just stopped at rest point 5, or just simply referred to as NO.5. which is about 30-45 minute hike up.

No.3Scenery from NO.3, 0800 hour
My class monitor, busy sms-ing (girls?)

I wonder, did the Tuan HAji actually hiked all the way up to sign?

Toilet, nice leh?

No. 5. You get free beverages ( kopi O/Tea/water), and if your are lucky you'll get free food too.

My lecturers

I have 4 subjects, not 5 as stated in the previous post. 4 lecturers 4 4 subjects....

English, Miss Annie.
"My students always complain about this place. What is it?facilities not good? no. Lecturers not good? no. So what IS THE COMPLAIN? To few girls!"

"But you must see, PSDC is strategically located 10 min away from, Sunshine square, Bukit Jambul complex, and Queensbay Mall! There are hundreds of girls for you to see there! Every day hundreds of different girls! KDU got more girls but every year you will see the same girls only! During lunch break (12-2) you all can just go there and see till you all full!"

" your are adults! Looking at girls is normal! BUt if you look at guys, then...... but don't worry I won't discriminate you, if you look at guys.."

A joke from her " Mr. XYZ: I am not gay, but my boyfriend is"

Electronic Technolgy A (ETA), MR. P.C. Ooi
He is a very young guy, and looks like a student.

" ETA is very hard, You all will fail my paper!"
" Passing marks is 50%, you all should try to aim higher than that, but it is impossible!!"
" Rules for the 'game', Rule no.1 I am always correct, Rule no. 2, if I am wrong, pls refer to rule no.1 "
" Don't make me hate you , make me love you"

ZHA DOU!!!

note: during th second lecture, he told the class that there will be 5 questions for the finals (60%). question no.1-3, 10% each, easy questions from tutorials, so as long as we do our work, we will pass.

this one really ZHA DOU!!!

Engineering MAths, Mr Albert.
Another Young guy....
Quite careless when teaching maths, "12-1=10 , 13-7=5" what he taught us during lectures. when we corrected him, he will say' very sharp eyes, good good'

Introduction to Engineering Science ( IES), Mr Andy Soon
A fatter version of Andy LAu.
We didn't give that statement, it was from our English Lecturer!!
Well, his lectures are like telling grandfather grandmother stories, he just kept on repeating n repeating on a particular page.
Worse still, his lectures are from 2-4pm , right after lunch, the time where many feel sleepy, including me.
however, he is still a nice guy...

the end...

Blood donation drive

Today, there was a blood donation drive in PSDC, organized by the student council.

I wanted to donate my blood, really wanted to try and experience it, so I decided to 'take action' after my last class, which ended by 4pm.

Walked in there, filled up a form. Then lined up to get some check ups. While waiting, the organizers gave us a RM 3 coupon, to buy some refreshments after donating blood.

So, it was finally my turn. I sat down, passed the form to the nurse.
"kali pertama?" the nurse asked
"ya"
Placed my arm on the table, while the nurse took out an alcohol swab to sterile my finger, before taking a blood sample.

Then suddenly, she looked at my form and asked " umur berapa?", "18?" ," eh, belum cukup umur lagi!! kena tunggu hingga gam-gam 18!"

walau............

I Packed up and headed toward the cafeteria, and use the rm3 coupon to buy 3 packets of min Chipmore.

The end of the story of my "first blood donation"....

Well can't say anything, only can blame myself for being so blur, but they didn't write anything on the form also!! and I'm not the only one, 2 guy lining up behind me were also unaware of it.Furthermore it not bad right? just line up, pretend that you are going to donate blood, get rm3, and buy some yummy food!!

PSDC Orientation

Finally after 3 months of rotting, and growing mushrooms on my head,I'm going back to school college.

PSDC ( Penang Skill Development Centre). Well it is not really a college anyway, as explain by the general manager of PSDC during today's orientation. Besides providing educations for SPM leavers, it also gives corporate training, to adults, hence it is a skill training center too. So, it is a college for us, a skill training centre for adults, and a 'skill development centre' for the public. So, you can call it what ever you want.

So what am I studying there? Diploma i mechatronic. Mechatronic= mechanical + electronic. get it? It is a 3 year course, upon graduation I should be able to build something like this.
haha just joking

Basically, for this semester I will have 5 subject, which are English1, English2, Engineering Mathematics, Introduction to Engineering Science, Electronic Technology A. Ya, I'm going to study all these for the next 6 months.

The course I'm studying, I think it has the most number of people, compared to the others.. I think about 80-100. Based on the length of the list. I'm in group 5.

HOw was the orientation? Just normal. Introduction of the staff, psdc, course, rules etc. then tea break ( 1st and last time free food given by psdc), and collect our textbooks. Yes we got textbooks, psdc textbook. The end. It is a super short orientation, y some orientation last for a week, some even have camp!!

oh, I got my timetable, for the 1term of the 1 semester . Basically I will have a free day every week. Total time studying for the 1 term (April- june) is 116 hours.
116 hour divided by 8 weeks = 14.5hr/week
14.5hr divided by 5 working days = 2.9hr/day

3 hour per day!! But don't so too happy Seck Houng, wait till you get ur assignments n projects!!!
