Day 13- 8/8

2 am, sent off the Sabah scouts, they are going for a Euro tour..

Our whole troop woke up late, to pack our stuff.

Rushed to the bus stop and waited for an hour to get up the bus

Had our lunch in a restaurant in the airport, don’t try to convert the price of our lunch to Rm, then the price will be reasonable. hehe.

Flew back to Bangkok, then finally to KLIA

Closing Ceremony-day 12- 7/8

Last day of jamboree.

In the morning, we started packing our bags , after that we all got free time!!

Went and walked around the whole jamboree site, traded away most of my badges and when it was time, I went back to our campsite. Then it was just taking down and taking down of tents table etc..

In the evening, it was closing ceremony, but it rained!!! And it was very cold.

After the closing ceremony, we felt hungry so we went to the subcamp hub and planed to get some supper, too bad it was after 11pm and there was curfew so we are not allow to buy any more hamburger, but we manage to ourself some cold pizza.

Trash & Choice time- day 11- 6/8

Last day of activity

It was time to go for an activity called trash, and how was it?? Just like it’s name!!!

Well nothing much to talk about this activity, we did a quiz about trash, played music with trash created something from trash and made a bridge out of trash. So this activity is “trashy”

After that it was choice time again!!! Yeah the best time ever!!, I rushed to the other side of the jamboree site to go to the Globus, but it was closed for lunch!! This is the second time I rushed to that bus..argh!!!

Went back to campsite and prepared for scuba diving. 4 of us, Vineeta, Kok Rui, Qian Ling and I walked to the scuba diving area which was in the Energise area, which is quite a distance for our camp site.

After waiting for about 15 minutes outside the scuba diving area, we went in and put on the scuba diving attire given to us. Later we were given a short briefing on the equipments.

Instructor: Any of you done scuba diving before?

Us: no.

Instructor: where are you guys from?

Us: Malaysia.

Instructor: YOU GUYS ARE FROM Malaysia but never done scuba diving before? Malaysia has one of the most beautiful scuba diving areas in the world!! And now u came all the way to uk to learn scuba diving?

Well we did scuba diving just in a small pool, and the water was freezing. After half an hour in he pool, it time to go back… we changed backed to our normal clothes and went to explore the area. There were circus, badminton court etc sport and game in this area. There was an area where all kinds of pioneering structure were built, swing, see=saw, catapult and a merry go round!!

There was an area where you can learn how to start a fire using the most ancient way, sparks!!

Well didn’t participate in it because I need to rush to the Black Magic restaurant for dinner wit the whole Malaysia Contingent.

Actually I didn’t eat the much, because kian min was sick , so we ( Sebastian and I) went back to check on him. I was hungry so bought a hot dog as dinner.

Well that's all of the second last day of Jamboree.

Splash- day 9- 4/8

Woke up at 5 am.

Reached bus hub at 7am.

Boarded the bus at 10am.

Reached Alton Water at 12 noon.

There were various water activities in Splash, there were small medium large dinghies, kayak canoe bell boat, just to name a few.

I went for open kayak.

It was a very fun activity, first time on a kayak!!We learnt how to control it, we even kissed the kayak!! But great time don’t last, it was already time to leave…

Reached back the Jamboree site by 4pm. Had lots of free time, so I went exploring the jamboree site, ya still didn’t really cover the whole area yet.....

Splash was a very nice activity, but too bad too much time wasted waiting and traveling in the bus...

GDV and Choice time-day 8- 3/8

GDV- Global Development Village.

" The aim of the Global Development Village is to make sure the participants enjoy themselves, but also to give them a greater awareness of the world around them."

There were around 20 tents, i think, each with a different activity run by organisations such as UN, Redcross, Oxfamand UNESCO, etc

the activity that i participated in was 'Journey to safety" organised by UNHCR and STAR. In this activity we acted as a refugee and were divided into different families. I was the grandfather....

We were give a choice to take limited item from our "house" before fleeing. We took some money, gold , first aid kit and some food ( if I am not mistaken). We were all deciding which family member should keep the money,then "army" came to snatch our money, we were too careless back then.

We were put through different scenarios, at night we were blind folded, one of the family members got hurt, I was almost blind, in the end at the "border crossing" we were told that we had lost our documents and can't cross to the other country and had to beg the " officer"

although it was just a short activity, I really felt like a real refugee, and it was terrifying.

Lunch time, we just sat on the grass, under a shady tree and had our so called Picnic

Later in the after noon it was free time, so me and Mathew spend time in the plaza...

You don't really get to see this type of gateway in Malaysia...

We also went to the Global Development Boulevard, a place which is almost the same as GDV.

Then we spent some time exploring Hylands Park, That was when we discovered the were restaurant and a souvenir shop right beside Hylands house!! ya after so many days...

It was tiring, we walked a lot on that day, but it was definitely a very fun day.

Starbrust day 7 2/8

2nd August-This is the day where a few scouts were banned from activity, because they were late for flag break.... but no big deal, they get to sleep the whole, and we need to work for the whole day.. lol...

Starbrust, is not really a activity, it is actually a community project, we were all sent to various places to do something good for the community.....

Get on a bus very quickly, the scouter following us was MR. Chung, our TL from Sabah.
Our guide, was a very cheerful Brazilian IST. We were given information about our destination.

The place I went is a 'iron age' camp, the camp is used for environmental education purposes, our mission was to clear up the brushes there and help them to repair the camp area.

After bringing us around the camp, Mr. Chung, Chuo Tung, and me was assigned to a special job!!---- transfer 1 tonne of the goats food to a smaller 20 kg bag. Yes one tonne!!!!
Well there goes our morning, transferring food....

After lunch, we join the Japanese scouts to pick up twigs and clear all the lalang by the side. So is it just work work work and work....we work till around 4pm, when it starts to rain.

Had problems communicating with the Japanese, the only thing i can talk to them is

However, Japanese scout are all very friendly and cheerful. I even made a Japanese friend named KIKO.

After all day of work, I still don't really get it how have I helped the community??



At the evening, it was vigil, eve before scouting sunrise day,the day we will be celebrating 100 years of scouting....

Scouting Sunrise 100 years of scouting- day 6- 1/8

Super super late entry for Jamboree....Ya, it is almost 4 months since Jamboree, but no harm writing it down, so that many years from now I can still remember this once in a life time experience.

Woke up early in the morning, for the big day scouting sunrise. Everyone gathered at the arena so celebrate this meaningful day.

What really happed during the whole ceremony? well I can't really remember them in order, but here is some photos..

BP's grandsonthere were a few great performance such as dances and singing of the song "you are my brother"in different languages.( Didn't notice it till i read the newspaper the next day)

While we were celebrating scouting sunrise in the jamboree, 300 other scouts, 2 from each country were celebrating it on Brownsea island, the birthplace of scouts movement. Those lucky fellows.

After the ceremony, the whole Malaysian contingent gathered in front of the 'white house' for a photo session.

In the afternoon, it was food festival!! each country will present their own food for everyone to taste. WE served NAsi Lemak..

Well is was a very wonderful experience, tasting up to 10++ countries food in a day!!!
